Las fuertes ventiscas limpian la nieve de las crestas y crean condiciones muy duras para la vegetación. Los cristales de hielo producen abrasión y son pocas las plantas que pueden resistir: Armeria alpina, Carex rupestris o Gentiana alpina. Las pistas están inaccesibles a causa de la nieve y el hielo.
FAUNA: La fauna se desplaza hacia los fondos del valle, acercándose a las carreteras algunos animales como los corzos y los sarrios, y llegando hasta las poblaciones los treparriscos
